Information on girl group Girls' Generation being in a Japanese textbook has garnered much attention.
On August 12, a post titled "Girls' Generation's Appearance in a Japanese Textbook" was created on an online community site, sparking curiosity amongst netizens.
As a way of congratulating Girls' Generation on their 4th anniversary, a netizen posted various photos showing their influence.
First, the netizen posted a photo of Girls' Generation's picture that appeared in a section of a middle school and high school freshmen's textbook discussing popular music, capturing the attention of netizens. They followed that up with a page showing a shot from Girls' Generation's concert, which is included in an English textbook used by Japanese students.
Netizens who saw the photos commented, "They're even in foreign textbooks; their popularity's worldwide", and, "Girls' Generation is boosting national glory."
Meanwhile, Girls' Generation has been active in Korea, as they recently attended the Incheon Korean Music Wave Festival.
Girl group Girls' Generation has become the center of attention amongst netizens for their big appetites.
On August 15, a post titled '"Girls' Generation's God of Food Road" appeared on an online community site. It included evidence of the slim girls holding the title of "shikshin" (god of food) with their big appetites.
The original poster first revealed the time when actress Kim Minhee ran into four Girls' Generation members at a restaurant. She revealed that the four members ended up paying a $210 bill for their meal. She added a significant comment, saying, "I heard that once, their bill came out being more than what Super Junior (with 13 members) eats."
The netizen continued their post by adding screenshots of Yoona when she played the role of Saebyuk on the KBS1 daily drama "You're My Destiny". During the eating scenes, she could be seen eating spoonfuls of food, causing netizens to laugh and comment, "I can't tell if she's acting or if she's hungry."
Photos of Girls' Generation's autographs inside well-known restaurants all around the country were also revealed. The variety of restaurants ranged from those serving sheep tripe barbecue to grilled clam, showing just how many different types of food they eat.
Netizens posted witty comments such as, "It really seems like 9 true shikshins have gathered together", and, "Has the management company been putting them on diets because of the price for meals?"

Just a day after Tiffany's birthday on the 2nd of August, Tiffany was placed 2nd on Mnet WIDE's "Stars' Best Moments- Different From Others Since They Were Trainees". Tiffany was described to be a kind hearted and helpful girl who always puts others before herself. Her selfless act as described in the comic strip is proof of how Tiffany really is an "Angel". Now, SM Entertainment has finally released their footage of the press conference held before the concert started. This 15-minutes long video contains the full interview that Girls' Generation had with the press right before their concert started. In it, all the members reveal their thoughts and feelings about having toured Japan and returning to Korea to perform again.
The members all commented that they had greatly missed their local fans, and the went on to express their gratefulness towards all international fans who had given them plenty of support. Apart from that, they also agreed that they would love to go to all the countries which their fans were in.

On the 6th of August, Yoona was featured on Enter Weekly as the 4th best idol-turned-actress. Yoona has been actively involved in numerous dramas ever since she took her first step into the acting world in 2007. She made her debut into acting through the Korean drama, 9 Ends 2 Outs. After that, she made a small cameo in the 2008 production, Unstoppable Marriage as one of the 7 princesses. 2008 proved to be a wonderful year for Yoona has her fame sky rocketed and she appeared in another 2 dramas. Girls' Generation's hit songs such as MR. TAXI, Bad Girl, Gee and Genie are still on the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) Full Chaku-Utta Weekly Charts even after such a long time. MR. TAXI is currently at the 21st spot, Bad Girl at 51st, Gee at 56th and Genie at 97th position.
Apart from that, Girls' Generation's self-titled First Japanese album is also 7th on the Oricon Monthly Chart for July. They managed to sell 107, 637 albums just in the month of July alone. 5. Rumours of Girls' Generation's Comeback Surfaces
As rumours about the prospect of Girls' Generation having a comeback soon is circulating around the internet, 2 photos were recently uploaded to further strengthen these rumours. In one of the photos, is members Tiffany and Sooyoung. Tiffany is seen to be sporting a completely new hairstyle which is a sharp contrast to her current one. Her straight cut bangs and chin length hair in the photo has sent fans swooning at the prospect of having a "Dark SoShi" once again. Sooyoung on the other hand has a "Rocker Chick" type of hairstyle and there is a possibility that Girls' Generation might be going for a double-concept comeback.

7. International Fans of Girls' Generation Celebrate the Group's 4th Anniversary in LA
International fans of the popluar girl group that represents Asia, Girls' Generation, commemorated the groups 4th year since debuting by holding a large scale event which is now a hot topic among many.
On 5th August, a popular online community site publically promoted Girls' Generation in the center of LA through an electrical billdboard. This electric billboard was prepared by Girls' Generation's representative international forum "Soshified" who's members arranged this large event. "Soshified" prepared this electiric billboard that is 10.4mX7.3m in size, and their Girls' Generation advertisment caught the interest of those in the heart of LA.
Fans from Korea left similar 4th anniversary messages on an internet billboard expressing thoughts such as, "It's already been 4 years?? This feels like a dream," and "The group that the world pays attention to has grown up." The 4th anniversary electric billboard event for Girls' Generation, will continue to be held until August 8th in the heart of downtown LA.
8. Girls' Generation Performs at Cheong Shim Music Festival
On the 6th of August, Girls' Generation made an appearance at the Cheong Shim Music Festival and performed 4 of their hit songs. They sang "Run Devil Run", "Hoot", "Oh!" and "Gee" for the large crowd present. Although it has been a long time since Girls' Generation performed at such events in Korea, their fans are still as loud and supportive as ever and the girls appear to have had a lot of fun performing. Fans are taking their love for Girls' Generation to a whole new level! Recently, a photo of a SONE who got a tattoo of Girls' Generation has been spreading around community sites like wild fire. This particular SONE has caught the attention of many for having an intricate tattoo of Girls' Generation in Korean across the biceps of his right arm. At the corner of the tattoo is "Sone" and underneath the Korean words is "Girls' Generation".

Girls' Generation's Yuri was voted as the top 'WooYoo Girl' (a girl with superior genes) by college students.
A poll was held on a cosmetic surgery website from August 1st through the 9th, where Yuri received 194 (46%) of the total 421 votes from male and female college students. In second and third were Kim Sarang (105 votes, 24.9%) and fellow Girls' Generation member Seohyun (102 votes, 24.2%).
Yuri also garnered attention after revealing a 4-frame selca that looked like something out of a photoshoot.

Just as fans reacted to the 1 minute preview released earlier today ( found here), SM has released the full version of Girls' Generation's 'Bad Girl' music video. Coming in at just around 4 minutes, the music video shows a different side of the girls, combined with amazing choreography.
On August 19th, the chairman of Visit Korea Year will be appointing Girls' Generation, who has become the center of hallyu worldwide, as the honorary ambassadors at the Lotte Hotel Crystal Ballroom.
Girls' Generation will begin promoting "2010-2012 Visit Korea Year" as the representative artists of the new hallyu, alongside current honorary ambassadors actor Bae Yongjun, figure queen Kim Yuna, and popular animated character Pororo.
They have already shown Korea's charms by standing up front during the K-Pop fever that took place on the 10th and 11th of June in Paris, France through "Visit Korea Year Presents SM TOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in PARIS".
On this appointment, Chairman Hong Joomin revealed, "By appointing SNSD, who has been leading hallyu with K-Pop becoming a hot issue worldwide, we are anticipating an increase in the value of Korean sightseeing brands and Visit Korea Year promotions."

Girls’ Generation, having just completed a successful national concert tour in Japan, will be back in action at Summer Sonic 2011. They will be appearing as a special guest in Tokyo on August 14th at Makuhari Messe alongside major artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, X Japan and many more.
The timetable and stage the girls will be performing on has just been released on the Summer Sonic website, stating that they will be the closing act for the “Mountain Stage” beginning at 9pm. Other performers that will be performing at the “Mountain Stage” include P.i.L.; The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion; Yelle, Gypsy & the Cat; House of Pain; Friendly Fires; Two Door Cinema Club; Yelle; the telephones; and opening act Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas. Many artists will be performing simultaneously at different venues on different stages.
Summer Sonic staff previously commented that, “Summer Sonic’s organizer recognized the quality of their (Girls’ Generation) performances and that there was a high demand for them.”
Girls’ Generation members have also previously stated that, “We're all really excited to be able to stand on the same stage with so many magnificent artists from around the world."
